The congregation of Our Savior's was established in 1917, and alongside three other congregations was served by Pastor J. J. Lee. However, Salem withdrew and joined the Ellsworth parish, resulting in Our Savior's buying a share of the parsonage. This became one-half of the parish. In 1923, Pastor Lee resigned, and Pastor B. K. Barstad accepted the call.

In 1933, a spiritual awakening came through that swept through the area while Barstad preached. Due to failing health, Pastor Barstad resigned in 1938. Dr. Arthur Rholl was called and accepted, and served until 1943 when he was appointed as a chaplain in the U.S. Army. During this time Pastor C. J. Nagelstad served temporarily until Pastor P. L. Mork accepted the call in 1944 until 1951. A. I. Kvamme arrived in the spring of 1952.

People hoped that the Bethany congregation would merge with Our Savior's congregation, but wasn't the case due to a two-thirds majority vote. It was decided that in 1954 the parish dissolved due to it being too large for one pastor to do all the work. A new agreement with Stavanger was established in 1954. It was also decided that a new church was to be built to house the congregation of Our Savior's in 1954. A year later, 23 families from Bethany joined Our Savior's, and the new church was dedicated.
